SINGAPORE; 18 JUNE 2026 — BandLab Technologies today announced the launch of BandLab for Education 2.0, the next evolution of its award-winning music creation platform for schools, built to support the way music is taught and made today. Available at $2.50 per student per year, with free access for eligible Title I schools in the US and comparable support in other markets, 2.0 is designed to put professional music creation within reach of any classroom.

The result of more than eight years of work with educators worldwide, 2.0 makes it easier for teachers to bring music creation to students using the technology and systems schools already have. It also expands BandLab for Education’s compliance flexibility, extending existing support for US federal standards, including COPPA and FERPA, to accommodate the dedicated data privacy agreements required by many US states and districts, as well as schools around the world.

A Studio built for next-generation classrooms

At the core of BandLab for Education 2.0 is BandLab Studio, the same recording and production DAW used by over 100 million creators worldwide, from beginners to chart-topping artists. For 2.0 it’s been rebuilt and further optimized to run lighter and faster across the technology schools already use, including Chromebooks, Macs, and Windows devices, so students can spend more time focused on making music.

BandLab for Education 2.0 continues to give every classroom access to professional creative features, including BandLab AutoPitch™ for vocal tuning and a wide range of samples, one-shots, and loops from the BandLab Sounds library. Additionally, classroom essentials like BandLab’s Metronome and Tuner are now available as stand-alone tools outside of Studio, so teachers and students can quickly open them for lessons, rehearsals, or daily practice. Whether a student is sketching their first beat or mixing a finished piece for class, BandLab for Education 2.0 gives them room to create with the same tools artists on BandLab use every day.

A simpler way for teachers to set and share assignments

BandLab for Education 2.0 also introduces an all-new BandLab for Education file format that makes assignments easier for teachers to create, manage, and reuse. A teacher can build an assignment with starting materials and instructions, then package it as a single file that can be distributed through the systems they already use, including their LMS, Google Classroom, shared drives, or email. That means assignments can move with a teacher’s existing workflow instead of forcing the school onto a new one. This also makes it easier to reuse coursework across classes and terms, and to share assignments with the wider community of BandLab for Education educators around the world.

“The tools to make music should be in the hands of everyone, everywhere, and nowhere does that matter more than in a classroom,” said Meng Ru Kuok, CEO and Co-Founder of BandLab Technologies. “Since launching BandLab for Education in 2018, we’ve learned what schools, teachers and students want, and with 2.0 we’ve gone further than ever to deliver it. Our goal is and always has been to empower the next generation of music makers with everything they need to set them up for success on their creative journey, wherever it may take them.”

Key highlights for BandLab for Education 2.0

  • Simplified classroom setup: Teachers create a classroom and share a join code, so students can get up and running within seconds with nothing to install or configure.
  • Expanded compliance support: In addition to BandLab for Education’s existing COPPA and FERPA support, 2.0 can now accommodate the dedicated data privacy agreements required by many US states, districts, and schools around the world.
  • Portable assignment files: The all-new BandLab for Education file format lets teachers create, share, and reuse assignments through the systems they already use.
  • Teacher materials in Studio: Teachers can attach notes and reference materials directly to projects, keeping instruction and creation in one place.
  • Stand-alone practice tools: BandLab’s Metronome and Tuner are now available outside of Studio, giving students quick access to tools for timing, pitch, and ear training.
  • Priced for access: BandLab for Education 2.0 will be available for $2.50 per student per year with no minimum seat requirement, and multi-year and site-level options available for schools and districts on inquiry. Eligible Title I schools in the US can apply for free access, with comparable support in other markets.

The existing BandLab for Education platform will remain fully supported and available for current schools, teachers, and students, and all current classrooms and projects will continue working as they do today. Schools that want to move to 2.0 will have migration support from the BandLab team. As BandLab focuses future development on 2.0, every school will receive ample advance notice and support ahead of any change.
